PARENTS

What to Expect: Intake

Your family's start with Naya Behavioral Health begins with the intake process. Here's what to expect during intake:

  • Initial Contact
  • Click "Get Started" to fill out the intake form OR call (470) 250-0046
  • Caregiver/BCBA Initial Chat
  • Talk with the BCBA. During this conversation, the BCBA will learn about your child, your goals for treatment, and what ABA therapy could look like for your child. This is a great time to ask questions and to determine if you and the BCBA are a good fit.
  • Collection of relevant documents
  • If you decide to move forward, the following documents MUST be sent to the provider:
  • a copy of the most recent diagnostic evaluation
  • a referral for ABA therapy
  • a copy of the most recent IEP (if applicable)
  • Consent Form and Client Handbook agreement form
  • Insurance Benefits Check and Request for Assessment
  • Your eligibility and benefits will be reviewed to ensure Naya Behavioral Health is in-network.
  • The BCBA will then submit a request to your insurance for an initial assessment.
  • Initial Assessment
  • Schedule the initial assessment with the BCBA. The BCBA will perform an initial direct assessment with the child which includes: a caregiver interview, a skills assessment, and a review of behavior concerns.

What to Expect: Therapy

Once the initial assessment has been performed, the BCBA will create a treatment plan for your child and review it with the family. The treatment plan is then submitted to insurance for approval. Once insurance has approved the plan, treatment can begin.

What does treatment look like?

  • ABA is not one-size fits all.
  • It is adapted to the needs of each child so the day-to-day treatment may look different.
  • ABA therapy is run in the home, school, and/or community setting.
  • A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) [or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), depending on appropriate staffing] will run the programs described in the treatment plan.
  • The BCBA provides supervision to the RBT providing direct care
  • this is done to ensure programs are being run appropriately and to provide support/changes if a program requires modification
  • the child will receive between 10%-20% supervision of their direct care hours per week, depending on client and staff needs
  • Caregiver collaboration meetings will take place, on average, weekly
  • to share the child's progress, train family members on how to run mastered programs, and to address new concerns

Parent Support

Families need support just as much as the client. There is no rule book to raising kids and having a child with additional needs can feel daunting. Naya Behavioral Health is here to support the families of our clients.  Each member of your child's team, yourself included, should feel comfortable and supported throughout the ABA journey.

Team Mentality

The early years of your child's life are magical and important. We are dedicated to making these years positive and productive. They say "it takes a village" to raise your children and we are here and excited to be a part of your "village".

Service Collaboration

We take a collaborative approach to treatment. Your ABA team will request to interact and receive updates from other care providers such as: teachers, speech language pathologists (SLPs), occupational therapists (OTs), etc.
